This morning, I had the privilege of presenting my book, The Courage to Lead – Resilience and Compassion in Police Command, as part of the Queensland Police Service’s Leadership Masterclass programme at Police Headquarters in Roma Street, Brisbane.

The audience was highly engaged, and thanks to the QPS Leadership Directorate, every participant received a copy of my book (four boxes in total!). It was an honor to share insights on Evolving Leadership, including how to position yourself to lead during critical events like the Mosman Collar Bomb incident and the first two hours of the Lindt Cafe Siege. More importantly, we discussed how to pass those lessons forward, ensuring that our people, partner agencies, and communities are prepared for the next major event.

A significant focus of both my talk and my book is the power of building a formidable leadership team—one that empowers others to create a supportive, inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.

I want to extend a huge thank you to S/Sgt Rob Lamason and the dedicated staff of the QPS Leadership Team for organizing such a fantastic morning. A special thanks to Sharee Cumming APM for initiating this wonderful opportunity.
