When I wrote my book, The Courage to Lead – Resilience and Compassion in Police Command, I had the privilege of one of Australia’s most respected leaders, Alex Greenwich MP, writing the Foreword. His words were both generous and inspiring, concluding with, “His legacy, and this book, is sure to inspire generations to come.”

I was humbled by this praise and hoped that my book would live up to such a high standard.

Today, I received a message from an Inspector in the NSW Police Force, which truly reinforced the value of why I wrote this book. The message read:

“Evening Allan, I just wanted you to know that I was promoted to Inspector (NSWPF) as of yesterday. As someone who has had a big influence on my career, I just wanted to say thank you. I have read your book again since coming back from my holiday last year, and I have no doubt it has helped me in the promotion process. Thanks again.”
Inspector, NSWPF

Receiving such feedback shows how The Courage to Lead is making a real difference. Hearing how it has helped someone on their leadership journey—and in this case, a well-deserved promotion—makes all the effort worthwhile.

This kind of response is exactly why I created allansicard.com, a resource to help leaders transform workplace cultures into spaces that empower others, fostering supportive and inclusive environments where everyone can thrive.

To the Inspector who reached out—you know who you are—thank you. Your message means more than words can express.
